Apple Oatberry Smoothie

Did I like it? Let’s just say it grew on me enough to finish it, but I wouldn’t want to drink it again. It just tasted strange to me and the rest of the family.
Was it easy to make with readily available ingredients? Yes. Although there is one stand out ingredient: pine nuts. I have, in my freezer, what I thought were perfectly good pine nuts. And they were fairly expensive, I might add. But I do want to mention that now that I have read up on the difference between regular pine nuts and Mediterranean Pine Nuts, I feel the need to spend all of my savings (at a rate of $25.00 per 8 ounces of nuts) on these very special nuts and I am trying to resist such a ridiculous purchase.
What specifically did I like about the recipe? It was easy to make. It’s got ingredients that I am happy to get into my diet, like chia seeds and oatmeal.
What specifically didn’t I like about the recipe? The portion size is too small for my breakfast needs. All of the smoothie recipes in the book are written to serve 2, but I can easily consume the entire recipe (the 2 portions) and still not be full until lunch. So I drink the whole thing, in this case 461 calories of smoothie, for breakfast. That’s probably a bit too many calories for breakfast.
Did my husband like it? If he did, I couldn’t tell.
Did my teenage daughter like it? Not in the slightest.
Did my eight or five year old try it? After my 13 year old’s reaction, my eight year old wouldn’t take a sip.
Would I make it again? Probably not.
Overall Grade (completely unscientific, I admit): D+
