Lately I have been really into two things:
1. The soundtrack to Hamilton.
I am embarrassingly late to this party, but I just have to admit it publicly and move on. I am obsessed. Crazy, madly in love with the music and the lyrics of this musical. I finally broke down and bought the CDs when I listed to an interview with the composer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, on an episode of Michael Ian Black’s podcast “How to Be Amazing” and I haven’t been the same since.
2. Podcasts.
It all started with the usual stuff: The Rich Roll Podcast and Howard Jacobsen’s Plant Yourself Podcast. You know, the podcasts that everyone who is plant based seem to be listening to. But then my universe opened up when I read Elizabeth Gilbert’s book, Big Magic, and I started listening to her podcast, Magic Lessons. That quickly led to my passion for two other podcasts, the Ian Michael Black one I mentioned above and now The Rob Cast by Pastor Rob Bell. I’m not even Christian and I cannot get enough of this man’s thoughts! If you have a passion for spirituality and personal growth, I can’t recommend it enough. Rob Bell is just so damned cool. Realizing that he can make people listen to him even though they’re not religious has made me wonder whether I could intrigue people who don’t necessarily have morals or thoughts that align with mine. Perhaps it’s time to start my own podcast…I know that the company Lower Street would be a great choice in helping me get to grips with the technical side of it all. Who knows what the future holds?
Who has time to listen to all of these podcasts? I don’t know about you but I love to listen to them when I’m driving in my car, when I’m in the shower and when I’m cooking, doing laundry or cleaning your home. It’s just not that hard to have an amazingly inspired day when there is no end to the incredible content that folks are putting out there with these podcasts. There really is something for everyone, for example, you could find a list of true crime podcasts, a list of the best cannabis-related podcasts or even a list of the best science podcasts. The sky is the limit! You could even be inspired to make your own podcast thanks to the incredible content out there. Checking out Podcast hosting platforms is a good place to start so I hear. There are some great options out there for would-be podcasters. I am even tempted to have a go myself. It gets me thinking so much and I have so many things I would love to talk about, and share my opinions with people. I am not very technical so I would probably need the help of a company like Podcast Press to get me started, but I think I would have good fun with this. The more I listen the more I want to have a go myself. I will get back to you with how I get on, but for now I will just carry on writing my thoughts down to you guys.
My sixteen year old daughter introduced me to this small, portable speaker from NudeAudio that amplifies the sound from my phone. It’s waterproof, so I feel safe propping it up on the ledge above my shower doors when I’m listening in the shower. If there’s other people around that don’t want to listen to my podcasts, then I just use headphones with my phone, but I find that the speaker is less cumbersome while getting stuff done when I am home alone.
So I wanted to ask you, what are your favorite podcasts? Have you ever listened to any of the podcasts that I mentioned? What are your opinions on them?
