Have you ever felt called to do something?
Something that you don’t know how to do and that seems like it’s way outside of your current ability level and comfort zone?
Well, lately (more like the past few years actually) I’ve been experiencing these moments where I feel called to tell my story to a larger audience. It seemed like the natural thing to do next was to begin making YouTube videos, only I had no idea how to do that. And I let my fear of failure and the discomfort of forcing this old dog to do a new trick hold me back.
Call me crazy, but something changed recently, like, really changed. It’s probably all of the inspirational stuff that I read and listen to. Or maybe I just decided to not give an eff anymore about what anybody thinks of me.
You do you and I’m just gonna do me.
I decided to set my quarterly life goal to make, edit and upload some YouTube videos. I wrote this intention down in my BestSelf Journal (damn I love that thing!) and a very interesting thing happened.
It didn’t take 13 weeks to make my goal happen. It took about a week-and-a-half.
This thing that has been hanging over my head for years?
It turns out the universe does have my back!
Sure, today got pretty stressful as I was making mistake after mistake and having learning opportunity after learning opportunity, but it’s done. My first official YouTube video is live on YouTube and I couldn’t be happier.
Not because the video is perfect. It’s pretty amateur. But because I set my mind to learning something new and finally went for it. I overcame my self-imposed limitations.
Curious what the video is about? You can hop on over to YouTube and check it out. It’s titled, “How I Gained 50 Pounds on a Plant-based Diet . . . So YOU Don’t Have To!”
And of course, I’d love it if you would subscribe to my channel, and share it with all of your friends, because of course, I didn’t go through all this to stop at one video!
Thanks for listening. Thanks for reading. Thanks for watching. I sincerely hope that watching my 14 minute video gives you hope.
I’d love to know what you feel called to do. What is something that you really feel in your heart you should be trying out or learning? What is stopping you from going for it? What is playing small doing for you?
Do you not know where to start? Do you get to avoid potential embarrassment? Do you get to stay in your comfort zone? Do you get to not take responsibility? Do you not have to risk fully being seen?
