Have you ever felt called to do something?
Something that you don’t know how to do and that seems like it’s way outside of your current ability level and comfort zone?
Well, lately (more like the past few years actually) I’ve been experiencing these moments where I feel called to tell my story to a larger audience. It seemed like the natural thing to do next was to begin making YouTube videos, only I had no idea how to do that. And I let my fear of failure and the discomfort of forcing this old dog to do a new trick hold me back. But I just knew that it would be a good thing for me to do, as YouTube has 1.8 billion unique monthly visitors and for even a small portion of this statistic to see my videos simply brings a smile to my face. It has the ability to open new doors for me, and I had to find a way to break through these barriers. But YouTube isn’t like it used to be back in the day. Now people who find themselves in the creative field, such as YouTube content creators know all too well when it comes to monetization. If you want to find out more or even find a way of making this fit within your business, it may be best to check out sites like https://www.singular.net/marketing-analytics/ad-monetization-analytics/ for more information. This is something that I will have to figure out over time.
Call me crazy, but something changed recently, like, really changed. It’s probably all of the inspirational stuff that I read and listen to. Or maybe I just decided to not give an eff anymore about what anybody thinks of me.
You do you and I’m just gonna do me.
I decided to set my quarterly life goal to make, edit and upload some YouTube videos. I wrote this intention down in my BestSelf Journal (damn I love that thing!) and a very interesting thing happened.
It didn’t take 13 weeks to make my goal happen. It took about a week-and-a-half.
This thing that has been hanging over my head for years?
It turns out the universe does have my back!
Sure, today got pretty stressful as I was making mistake after mistake and having learning opportunity after learning opportunity, but it’s done. My first official YouTube video is live on YouTube and I couldn’t be happier.
Not because the video is perfect. It’s pretty amateur. I still need to do things like find the best microphone for youtube and the easiest editing software. I also need to find some music, maybe some from somewhere like FreeBeats.io? But because I set my mind to learning something new and finally went for it. I overcame my self-imposed limitations.
Curious what the video is about? You can hop on over to YouTube and check it out. It’s titled, “How I Gained 50 Pounds on a Plant-based Diet . . . So YOU Don’t Have To!”
And of course, I’d love it if you would subscribe to my channel, and share it with all of your friends, because of course, I didn’t go through all this to stop at one video!
Thanks for listening. Thanks for reading. Thanks for watching. I sincerely hope that watching my 14 minute video gives you hope.
