Have you ever felt called to do something?
Something that you don’t know how to do and that seems like it’s way outside of your current ability level and comfort zone?
Well, lately (more like the past few years actually) I’ve been experiencing these moments where I feel called to tell my story to a larger audience. It seemed like the natural thing to do next was to begin making YouTube videos, only I had no idea how to do that. And I let my fear of failure and the discomfort of forcing this old dog to do a new trick hold me back. But I just knew that it would be a good thing for me to do, as YouTube has 1.8 billion unique monthly visitors and for even a small portion of this statistic to see my videos simply brings a smile to my face. It has the ability to open new doors for me, and I had to find a way to break through these barriers. But YouTube isn’t like it used to be back in the day. Now people who find themselves in the creative field, such as YouTube content creators know all too well when it comes to monetization. If you want to find out more or even find a way of making this fit within your business, it may be best to check out sites like https://www.singular.net/marketing-analytics/ad-monetization-analytics/ for more information. This is something that I will have to figure out over time.
Call me crazy, but something changed recently, like, really changed. It’s probably all of the inspirational stuff that I read and listen to. Or maybe I just decided to not give an eff anymore about what anybody thinks of me.
You do you and I’m just gonna do me.
I decided to set my quarterly life goal to make, edit and upload some YouTube videos. I wrote this intention down in my BestSelf Journal (damn I love that thing!) and a very interesting thing happened.
It didn’t take 13 weeks to make my goal happen. It took about a week-and-a-half.
This thing that has been hanging over my head for years?
Check.
It turns out the universe does have my back!
Sure, today got pretty stressful as I was making mistake after mistake and having learning opportunity after learning opportunity, but it’s done. My first official YouTube video is live on YouTube and I couldn’t be happier.
Not because the video is perfect. It’s pretty amateur. I still need to do things like find the best microphone for youtube and the easiest editing software. I also need to find some music, maybe some from somewhere like FreeBeats.io? But because I set my mind to learning something new and finally went for it. I overcame my self-imposed limitations.
Curious what the video is about? You can hop on over to YouTube and check it out. It’s titled, “How I Gained 50 Pounds on a Plant-based Diet . . . So YOU Don’t Have To!”
And of course, I’d love it if you would subscribe to my channel, and share it with all of your friends, because of course, I didn’t go through all this to stop at one video!
Thanks for listening. Thanks for reading. Thanks for watching. I sincerely hope that watching my 14 minute video gives you hope.
I saw the video. I am sure there are people out in the world who need this info. This is a public service. Glad you are starting a new phase in your experience with media.
Thanks Deborah! And thanks for always being an active voice in this community! xoxoxo
Wendy, you are amazing! I loved listening to you and the info that you had to share. You never disappoint…. thank you for sharing your journey with.
Thanks Andrea! I’m not sure that I never disappoint, but I’m okay with disappointing the folks that don’t understand my message and connecting with the ones that really, truly do! xoxoxo
Well done Wendy! l am sure your video will resonate with a lot of people on a plant based diet, thank you for taking the time to produce it. I look forward to hearing more in the future. 💕👍
Thanks Karen! I think I’m going to like it over there on YouTube!
Thank you Wendy. I have been following you for years and I am happy that you are now on YouTube.
Great first video and I am sure the first of many to come.
I have the same problem as you have with the plant based diet, but my weight gain is not as dramatic as yours. I just have to be careful and from time to time put the brakes on for a few days to regain my regular weight. I am only talking about 2 or 3 pounds so it is easy to get rid of.
My problem is bread. I am French and find it difficult to live without it.
I am looking forward to your next video.
Great job Wendy!
Best wishes,
Josette
Hi Wendy,
When I listened to your video about gaining weight on plant-based, I said to myself, “That’s me!!!” And people think I’m crazy… thank you Wendy…. I am not crazy. Eating lots of potatoes and rice puts more belly fat on me.
My BLE book is arriving today. I am doing the 14 day challenge. Have TRIED everything. Listened to McDougall, Chef AJ, attended DR. Esselstyn’s seminar….the list of what I’ve done, who I have listened to is truly exhausting. LOL
I have one request. Would you be as so kind to share with me a typical day of food when eating BLE for weight loss? When I look at the food list, I am concerned about fat because of Dr. Esselstyn. Afraid of cereal because it’s processed. My fasting blood sugar is creeping up (not diabetic, NO diabetes in my family BUT I am on a statin drug and BP meds and they slow but sure make you diabetic)……so I’m afraid of potatoes now and rice despite of what Dr. McDougall says and because I gain weight on this food.
Please Wendy, may you share with me how you stuck to your plant based with following the BLE guidelines? Did you eat the fat, did you not choose the animal proteins, for the breakfast grain – did you stay away from the processed?
I have heart disease (bypass at 41…yes, a triple bypass at 41) and I want to be plant based but need portion control as you state AND I am afraid of foods causing my sugar to go up.
Any words of wisdom for me? I know you’re not a doctor and would never expect such a response, just looking to here how you put it all together and perhaps if you know friends that actually are say insulin resistant what food choices seem to achieve all goals.
I’ve just recently started following you on Facebook and I think your information is great. I enjoy it.
Sincere thanks,
Teri
Yes, Teri, I can share that with you! Please e-mail me at healthygirlskitchen@gmail.com and we can set up a time to talk!
Thanks Wendy!!! Really appropriated what your are doing. Keep it up
