Hello friends! I’m so glad you asked!
First off, we’ve completed our first full book in the Healthy Girl’s Kitchen Mindset Mastery Support Group and Book Club on Facebook (it’s a private group). It went swimmingly well, if I do say so myself. In fact, we love the book, Thin from Within by Dr. Joseph Luciani, so much that we’ve decided to have a check-in every Friday in the group just as a reminder of one of the tools in the book per week on an ongoing basis.
It’s been my experience that combining Thin from Within’s psychological tools for combating compulsive food behaviors with Bright Line Eating’s blood glucose stabilizing food plan AND techniques for creating automaticity has been a really powerful thing for me. So I’m sticking with it.
Next up in the Healthy Girl’s Kitchen Mindset Mastery Support Group and Book Club on Facebook is our review of Susan Peirce Thomson’s NYT Bestseller, Bright Line Eating, The Science of Living Happy, Thin and Free.
We started with Chapter 1 today and we’ll be working our way through it, one chapter at a time, until we complete it. If you can’t catch the Facebook Live get-togethers, no worries, you can catch all of the past Facebook Live videos in the Videos section of the group page.
I’ve also been having a lot of fun recording interview segments for other people’s online summits. I don’t know if you caught wind of it or not but I’m participating in one that’s live right now called the Sacred Sexuality for Women Summit. At first impression, it may not sound like it’s something of interest to readers of a food blog, but there are quite a few speakers who I am personally really excited to hear from, including:
- Whitney Freya on Living as a Life Artist, Engaging the Senses, How to Choose Love over Fear, Releasing the “People Pleaser” in You and Owning True Self Love!
- Mia Saenz on Body Love & Empowerment, Listening to the wise voice of your Inner Child, and the Power of Energy Medicine and Metaphysics to Heal our Bodies in Ways You Never Imagined were Possible.
- Dr. Heather Manley, N.D. on Introducing Safer Skin care Products and How Chemicals Do Cause Problems in Women (infertility, thyroid, hormone disruptions, etc.).
- Lisa Douthit on Living Life As a Woman with Chronic Illness, Discovering Profound Intimacy with a Partner During Times of Illness, and Power of the Energy Body and Mindset.
I give a fun talk on how I became a Self-care Warrior over the past few years. I think you’ll really enjoy it. If you haven’t signed up yet, it’s not too late, and you can do that here.
And last but not least is something that came into my life totally unexpectedly! As I was working with both Thin from Within and Bright Line Eating, I wanted a way to combine everything that I loved about both programs into a system where I could make sure I wasn’t forgetting about or getting lazy about implementing all that I had discovered into my daily life.
Plus, there have been many incredible practices that I have picked up along the way the past few years–from other books that I’ve read and courses that I’ve taken. I got inspired to start a pilot course on journaling and organizing your practices, intentions, daily tasks and really, your whole life, if you want it to.
I’m calling it The EVOLUTION Journal, because the name seems to fit.
Not only are we evolving as we live, but the journal itself must evolve with us as we test out different practices and theories and find what fits best for our lives and our personalities.
I’ve created an entire journaling and life organization system. I’m customizing journal pages individually for the members, based on their different food plans and unique daily practices. I’m teaching people how to assemble their own EVOLUTION Journal using basic and beautiful office supplies, how much fun are office supplies by the way? My friend just started her own law office and is incredibly excited about getting started with her new office supplies, she’s been looking at the blank index tab template materials online, as well as getting her own color-coordinated folders, etc. she’s absolutely loving it, just like me. Oh, I nearly forgot – I’m also going to teach people about making videos that are housed in a private Facebook group explaining all of the possibilities and what my thinking is behind each of the optional practices. We’re building a community of co-creators who are testing and tweaking what works for them in their journal so that each day can feel like each day is THE BEST DAY EVER!
It’s really freakin’ cool.
If you are interested in being a part of the EVOLUTION Journal Pilot Project, please e-mail me at healthygirlskitchen@gmail.com and we can schedule a time to talk about whether or not it’s right for you! There is a cost to joining the pilot of $49.00, plus the cost of the office supplies you purchase at your discretion. This doesn’t have to be anything too expensive – just some of these cheap office supplies will do the job perfectly.
I know that this blog isn’t what it used to be, and for that, I am truly apologetic. I used to have a huge passion for creating plant based recipes, and someday, I might again. I can’t say.
For now, food and recipes have become the thing that fuel my passions–not the passion of my life.
And my passion has evolved to include more and more space for personal development and recovery from compulsive overeating (and all the other associated “disorders” like compulsively looking for new and exciting food and recipes). I’m really content with eating the same basic stuff day after day and week after week. I couldn’t pretend to be passionate about the quest for new recipes if I tried, and if I tried, you would all know that I was faking it.
I know that I will still blog occasionally about particularly great whole food, plant-based recipes that have become staples in my Bright Line Eating food plan, but I can’t predict how frequently that will be. On the upside, the Internet is bursting with whole food, plant based recipes these days, so I think we all need to acknowledge that me not obsessing over creating more of them isn’t going to impact anyone one iota!
I wanted to update you because I wanted you to know that my private Facebook groups have become the current vehicle for me to fully express and share my creativity for the subjects that I am most passionate about right now. It’s not that I won’t be blogging, because I certainly will. I’m going to continue to make Podcast episodes and you’ll hear about and find them here. It’s just that I’m finding that there is such deep connection with this community inherent in the new Facebook Live technology that it’s impossible for me to resist it in favor of this older vehicle, blogging.
I guess we can’t stop evolving even if we tried!
If you’ve read this far, congratulations. Please leave me a comment. You are likely one of the few people left who has anything left of their attention span and I’d love to know how you are doing it!
With lots of love,
Wendy
I read it all! You are awesome!
Don’t apologize for evolving and growing… just like you your blog has evolved and so many of us are so happy to be on this journey with you. Evolving by definition means taking on new shapes and formats. Somehow the word “phenomenal ” popped into my mind Maybe a quote from Maya Angelou. But that is where you are headed right ? A phenomenal woman.
Since I too am doing BLE, recipes don’t interest me very much either Congrats on BLE working for you also. It is wonderful isn’t it, not to be obsession about ‘what will I eat now” thinking. Being free is the best!
Blessings
Thanks for the update, Wendy. I’m loving this evolutionary thinking!
