Sandy Sharpe Before and After
Just yesterday I caught a good friend of mine, let’s call her Rachel, posting on Facebook about how she had finally come to the conclusion that in order to get back to and potentially stay in her right sized body, it was time that she experimented with completely giving up sugar and flour.
This was no easy decision for her as she prided herself on being a person who ate everything and a person who had no “food issues.” For the decade and a half that I’ve known her, she’s make it very clear that for her, she felt that everything in moderation was her best bet.
I can’t say I wasn’t a little bit jealous at times as she described how “food just isn’t a big deal to me, I eat when I get hungry and I don’t care much what it is.”
But that wasn’t what interested me the most.
What caught my eye immediately after thinking, “well, this is shocking for Rachel” was the number of comments she received from well-meaning, happy folks chiming in and commenting things like, “Well, you know, you’ve got to eat less and exercise more if you want to lose weight!”
If we only had a dollar for every time we heard that one, we’d all be billionaires! And probably thin by now. LOL.
If you want to exercise to lose weight then go for it. It works for some people, others not so much. I know I had one friend who was completely terrified of going to a gym. But she ended up just getting tennis lessons because then she felt that she was in control of her exercising, she had someone to help coach her and she was learning a new skill.
So today I want to present to you a radical departure from the old “eat less, exercise more” message. I’ve recorded a Healthy Girl’s Kitchen Taking the Stress out of Plant Based Living Podcast episode with my new friend Sandy Sharpe. I “met” Sandy online in a Bright Line Eating Facebook group and as soon as I saw her before and after pictures and read a little bit of her story, I was like, I need to share her with my HGK community.

Sandy before, an “exercise maniac.”

I hope you enjoy the conversation as much as I did.
Let’s just say it left me with no doubt in my mind that exercising, while very beneficial to the human mind and body, has anything to do with weight loss.
You can listen to the podcast episode with Sandy right here or hop on over here if you’d like a downloadable version.
If you are curious about the subject of exercise and weight loss, I highly recommend this vlog episode from Susan Peirce Thompson.
This. Is. AWESOME!!!!
Very informative, thank you Wendy and Sandy!!!
Great podcast! Thank you Wendy for putting out such good info that resonates with so many of us. Also – it was through your blog that I heard about BLE, did the two week challenge and have continued to lose – have released 30 pounds thus far. The freedom from being preoccupied with food has been the best part! Thanks, again.
Thank you for sharing this precious info with us. As a practicing writer,
I can say I was trying to include a few facts and
sparking ideas within my writing clinic intuitively.
I think it is essential to spice up your writing in the event you
wish to catch the viewers’ attention. However, you
did great, thanks
